Community composting - why send food scraps to landfill? This working group is for devising ways to get more composting into the community! In 2011 and 2012 we had funding for Ground to Ground and Compost Mates.
Ground to Ground - recognises that 1. Coffee grounds are great for our gardens and 2. Most cafes are sending tonnes of coffee grounds to landfill. Ground to Ground gives cafes the chance to put up a sticker or magnet on their espresso machine signifying their interest in giving away coffee grounds for people's gardens.
Compost Mates - Connects gardeners, and their compost bins, to local cafes and their food scraps. THB's role is facilitation - Approaching cafes and connecting them local gardeners and helping these compost mates devise a reliable roster.
