Has anyone tried to retain eggplants in Mebourne beyond the first year? Will they crop again?

Hi George, I have successfully over wintered two eggplants bushes, one in the ground and one in a metal planter box. The later is the one I still have at the moment - it is the long, skinny, pinky-purple eggplant. I couldn't believe how many eggplants it produced this summer just gone. They look terrible all winter, just like the capsicum bushes I have over wintered, but come good in the spring. One of the presenters on 3CR's gardening show mentined that you don't touch them until spring is well and truly here, then you can trim them and tidy them up. Best of luck!

Thank you for your comments. This was the best news I have had on this chilly day. I have kept my egg plants and capsicums and they have promised to be prolific in spring!
